1. Is Ratemaker new?
No, the original Ratemaker engine was released in 1977. Ratemaker moved to the Web in 1999. Ratemaker is continually updated and is the culmination of over 25 years of development in freight rating technology.

2. Who builds our rate database and maintains it?
Cass will setup and build your rate database. Cass also maintains all subsequent rate updates via automated uploads or from customer contract and tariff copies.

3. What mileage calculations are supported?
Rand McNally Milemaker® (HHG) and ALK PC Miler® are fully integrated for mileage based costs.

4. What features and functionality are supported?
Ratemaker presents three distinct service features.

Rate Inquiry - displays all rates for the selected carrier, origin, destination, and commodity combination or all carriers if a carrier is not specified. Applicable discounts, surcharges, and taxes are also displayed.

Shipment Rating - calculates the total shipment charge for the selected carrier, origin, destination, commodity, and quantity combination. Accessorial charges are also calculated and included in the total shipment charge.

Best Rate® - performs a Shipment Rating for all carriers or a group of carriers and presents them in a least cost order listing.

5. What transportation modes are supported?
Ratemaker supports all modes. These transportation modes include:
Air - cargo, express and freight
Intermodal - container and trailer
Motor - dry bulk, expedited, flatbed, household goods, LTL, parcel, package, refrigerated, specialized, tank liquid bulk, and van
Rail - carload, dry bulk, flatcar, tank liquid bulk, refrigerated, and protective service
Water - barge, ocean bulk, ocean container

6. Does Ratemaker limit the number of concurrent users accessing the site?
No, there is no limit on the number of concurrent users accessing Ratemaker.

7. Our company has manufacturing points located in Europe. Can I rate European shipments with Ratemaker?
Ratemaker supports international geography and can rate shipments from and to any part of the world.

8. Some of our rates are negotiated in Euros. Will Ratemaker support this currency?
Ratemaker supports all monetary currencies and has currency conversion factor capabilities.

9. Can Ratemaker be integrated with our ERP system?
Many customers extract shipment records from their ERP system and transmit them to be rated as a batch process. Ratemaker rates and returns these records to the customer and their ERP system is immediately updated with the actual freight cost.
